Our client requires a Mechanical Engineer to join their busy team based in Southampton.

Our client would consider both permanent or contract staff for this role, although a permanent employee would be preferred.

Candidates main tasks will be to identify, develop processes and install or maintain the waste to energy plant.  Candidates will also be required to enhance the Company's safety, environmental and business performance, together with financial justifications as appropriate.

Candidates must be able to attend site 'out of hours' to respond to plant reliability issues.
 
Responsibilities include:

- To maintain and develop mechanical processes and other systems, which enhance plant safety, reliability and efficiency, in line with Company policies and statutory requirements

- Provide  engineering input to project and engineering development activities, to include the evaluation, design, planning and costing of new proposals, together with appropriate safety assessments, commissioning, documentation and Operator training.

- Provide effective Project Management, supervision of site installation and budgetary control for assigned projects, to include compliance with Company and statutory requirements (e.g. CDM) as necessary

- Assist, and provide engineering support to, Account Managers and Customer Care Managers, in the development of new inquiries, including direct liaison with customers where appropriate

- Participate in the Engineers 'On-call' rota to cover significant plant reliability issues that may arise 'out of hours'

Knowledge / Qualifications

Ideally qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering, minimum acceptable level of HND qualified.

Knowledge of current H&S regulations with some experience of, or exposure to, CDM, DSEAR and Pressure systems regulations desirable.
