Description
As a Tunnel Design Engineer/Tunnel Project Manager, you will be involved on a range of national and international small to large projects that are industry and publicly high profile. The role will be challenging, varied and demanding of a range of skills that offers fantastic opportunities for skill set and career development. Depending upon seniority, day-to-day responsibilities will include but not limited to: Lead or Assist senior colleagues with Projects and coordinate with other engineering disciplines including, structural, environmental, mechanical and electrical engineers. Manage or assist in the management of projects. Responsible for the production of design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings, covering a range of project requirements from new build to modification, maintenance and refurbishment. Become integral to the divisionâ€s operations and contribute to the business and the teamâ€s technical development. Contribute to risk assessment and specification documents. Assist in the management of more junior/graduate engineers supporting their development and capability. Depending upon seniority, become actively involved in business development. Positively contribute market reputation through the timely delivery of clientâ€s needs. Respond to contractor queries and attend site progress meetings. Candidates will already be in possession of relevant academic qualifications, have post-chartership Design Engineering experienced and able to demonstrate exceptional Design Engineering Technical competences. Successful Candidates are likely to have the following characteristics: Strong academic background ideally with a civil engineering bachelors or masters degree. Depending on seniority, chartered (1 year+) and seeking to expand and maximise career opportunities. Experience of working on multiple concurrent commissions, and representing the company to clients. Be innovative looking to develop their technical and management skills and the willingness to tackle any challenge. Ideally detailed experience in structural design as well as have understanding of basic soil or rock mechanics. Skills in structural engineering, geotechnics, numerical modelling, and railway and metro engineering will all be highly valued and utilised. Good communication skills, good team working skills and good problem solving skills are important for all. They should also have the necessary drive to achieve their goals and deliver commercial success. Strong reporting skills to a range of senior managers.
