Description
To manage the technical elements of medium-sized projects or key input on large projects. Make day-to-day decisions on technical matters affecting the progress of the project. Promotes culture of continuous improvement. Maintains awareness of current issues, developments and initiatives promoted by professional institution. Competent grounding in civil and structural engineering design practice. Promotes expertise and key skill areas to the wider business. Contributes to and deliver to agreed programme and budget. Works as key contributor to integrated design/delivery team. Ability to work with internal and external customers to ensure that technical solutions best match needs. People Management: Technical learning and development of junior staff. Setting of performance expectations and providing the coaching and support to ensure achievement of these expectations. Ability to analyse problems and determine the most appropriate method of solution where this requires multi-disciplinary input, the ability to anticipate this requirement and to ensure support from other functional groups. Ensuring that problem solving learning is captured and shared. An effective chair of meetings when required, ensuring active participation and effective progress and action resolution. BSc or BEng, HND or HNC, civil or structural engineering essential. CEng, MICE or MIStructE desirable. Proven experience in the design of structural units and components is essential. Experience of design of water-retaining structures, including pumping stations and treatment plants Experience of working as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team is desirable Application of current design standards and specifications Broad range of design projects UK Water Industry standards and specifications Competent user of civil/structural design software Good written and oral communication skills Experienced user of SAND software desirable Full driving licence preferable
