New opportunity to head up Water Division for a Broker. Role will involve business development, account management, & supervision of office & field based staff. You will develop innovative procurement solutions & products to deliver bottom-line benefits to major utility users in the UK & Europe.
Job Description:
Our client is a well established energy broker who have now also established a Water Division to allow them to identify and achieve cost saving opportunities through a Water Audit and Implementation Service. The Division has grown rapidly and now act on behalf of many high profile organisations across all commercial sectors. Their approach is ‘refreshing’, continually investigating new ways for their clients to manage their water expenditure which incorporates advising on water efficiency, contract revaluation, negotiating the best possible tariffs and the recovery of past overcharges.
They are now looking for a new Head of Water to take the Division to the next level. You will continue to develop innovative procurement solutions and products that deliver bottom-line benefits to major utility users in the
Duties and Responsibilities
· Tactical Development Plan: produce and implement a Tactical Development Plan (TDP) that demonstrates how the Business Performance Targets will be achieved by your respective teams. It should give consideration to; types of new business, prospecting, market segmentation, data management, resigns, customer retention, credit control, strategic development of each account, key success criteria and departmental profitability. This is to be agreed with the Managing Director.
· Developing New Products and Services: through competitor analysis, customer feedback and gap analysis you will be required to develop and implement new services and products. This may involve working with a Business Analysis to assist in the specification of the business requirements and leading the project as the business sponsor.
· Weekly Reporting and Quarterly Objectives: maintain a weekly report that demonstrates your teams performance against the agreed KPI’s and TBP, plus complete all quarterly objectives. You will be required to meet with the Managing Director once a week to discuss the overall team’s performance.
· Human Resources (HR): ensure each member of your team has a personal development plan, receives an annual appraisal and is generally motivated in their role through active coaching and strong leadership. Deal with all general HR issues as part of the day to day management of the team which may include grievances, disciplinary matters and recruitment of new members of the team.
· Sales Collateral Material and Marketing: Continually update and improve the effectiveness of the sales collateral material and supporting marketing activities for water related services.
· Trade shows and workshops: You will be required to participate in trade shows and workshops and where appropriate deliver forum presentations to promote the companies services.
· Alliances: You will be required to build a network of third party alliances to accelerate sales revenues and to increase the range of products.
· Training: provide high quality on-going training to ensure your team are well versed with all water suppliers tariff and rebate mechanisms, and maintain a comprehensive understanding of water saving technologies and services. Your training you extend to all customer facing staff to ensure we maximise all water related sales opportunities.
· Customer Relationships: develop professional working relationships with all the water customers and ensuring they are fully satisfied with the company’s service delivery. Where possible develop new fee earning products with them.
· Commercial Issues: resolve all commercial and potentially legal issues with customers, including instances of delayed payment or financial claims against the company. Each instant is to be reported to the Managing Director to confirm the appropriate action to be taken.
· Plus: all other duties as assigned appropriate to the development of the role and the individual.
Personal specification
· Able to present professionally to an Executive level through clear and structured communication
· Fluent in expressing thoughts and commercial ideas, able to sell yourself and the value based service offering
· Excellent commercial awareness including profit & loss understanding
· Astuteness at observing the key drivers to success of high value B2B relationships
· Strong interpersonal and general management skills
· Persuasive, brings people around to their way of thinking
· Assertive when dealing with others and results orientated
· Ability to adapt under unpredictable circumstances. A quick leaner
· Ability to relate complex systems in lay man’s terms

Experience & qualifications:-
· A thorough understanding of the water industry; in particular proven experience as water consultant promoting water saving services. This includes having a comprehensive understanding of on-site water equipment (industrial and commercial), combined with water companies tariff options and leak detection etc.
· Demonstration a broad commercial experience of developing a water consultancy business.
· A business related MBA / degree or equivalent would be preferable
· A good working knowledge of Microsoft software
· Able to drive with current clean driving licence
