Description
Our client are one of the UK's largest engineering firms. They require a Managing Quantity Surveyor to play a leading role in the project delivery team.
Duties and responsibilities will include
Setting up site procedures and reporting systems. The procedures and systems will enable accurate feedback in the form of budgets, monthly progress and management accounts that will need to be submitted to head office.
Archiving of all essential project documentation
Interpreting and understanding the respective obligation, responsibilities and liabilities of the parties to the contract. Providing advice and guidance to the site team as appropriate.
Taking responsibility, with Contracts Managers for ensuring client satisfaction
Contributing to the resolution of problems be they commercial, contractual or construction related issues
Protecting Black & Veatch's commercial interests by ensuring that all contractual notices relating to time and money entitlements are issued to the client
Ensuring that Senior Project Quantity Surveyors and Project Quantity Surveyors carry out their duties in accordance with Company procedures
Welfare, training and development of Quantity Surveyors
Requirements
Quantity Surveying related degree, HND or HNC
RICS or ICES membership
Previous experience working for a contractor within the civil engineering or water industry
Experience in management of Target costs; subcontract accounts; procurement schedules; subcontract procurement; cost control; variations / CES; contractual claims and dispute resolution
Familiar with NEC and IChemE forms of contract
Excellent written and verbal communication skills - (able to produce well written reports, letters and statements)
Excellent numerical skills
Negotiation skills
Team Player - ability to work successfully as part of immediate and wider teams internally and externally
IT Literate (Word, Excel)
Full Driving Licence and willingness to travel within the region and from time to time within the UK
Required Skills: Quantity Surveyor
Minimum Qualification: Chartered or equivalent
