My client is a leading engineering consultancy, with an excellent reputation as a top UK employer.  They operate throughout a diverse range of industries, including nuclear, rail, transportation, telecoms, aviation, defence,  power, and oil and gas.

 

 

Role

 

The Power Generation team based in Glasgow covers the conventional, nuclear and renewable sectors. As a result of rapid expansion, there is a current vacancy for an Operations Manager to help to meet the challenges of increasing asset management demand on existing power plant, plus development and build of new plant. Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Line management of staff
  • Growing a multi-disciplined engineering team
  • Interfacing with existing and potential clients to develop new business streams that ensure the success of the team
  • Managing the preparation and delivery of commercially sound proposals to tender requests
  • Managing all internal and external stakeholders

 

Candidate

 

The successful individual will be capable of taking on the operational management of a multi-disciplined engineering team to manage delivery of the current portfolio and assist in growing the business. It is likely that you will have a background in Power Generation or Heavy Process Engineering. Skills and experience required for this role include:

 

  • Degree (or equivalent) in engineering or science related subject
  • Strong commercial awareness and a clear understanding of the requirements of engineering consultancy
  • Ability to successfully manage and deliver projects
  • The ability to motivate and encourage your team to get the best results, with a strong track record in growing a team capability
  • Excellent client facing skills and problem solving abilities
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently or as part of a varied team
  • Experience of the UK Power Industry would be a significant advantage
  • Candidates will need to be in a position to attain an appropriate level of UK security clearance

 

Reporting through to the head of the Power Generation Business, this role requires a high calibre individual capable of working autonomously who has a proven track record of delivering results.
