 Our client is looking to recruit a candidate to help to develop the growth of a practice offering environmental services to UK Power clients.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a significant role in the development of a recently formed team, with chances to support growth and expansion as the business grows and develops, from existing nuclear decommissioning markets to new markets associated with the building of new nuclear power stations and other energy developments.

The successful candidate would undertake:

  • provision of consultancy services on nuclear sites centred on expertise in Best Practicable Environmental Options (BPEO) assessments,
  • Best Practicable Means (BPM) studies,
  • Environmental Safety Cases,
  • EIA
  • Contaminated land assessment and clean up
  • Nuclear waste management.

The principal function of this position will be to help to deliver environmental projects within the UK energy sector, for clients on selected sites in the UK. The majority of the nuclear support work is likely to be at the Dounreay site. Support may also be required to other sites and to other parts of the energy sector, particularly in the North of Scotland. The role may involve other environmental or other consultancy work if required.

The priorities of this role include:

  • Project scoping/costing and producing high quality fee proposals;
  • Delivering high standard technical work for various leading edge environmental projects for customers within the power sector;
  • Helping to support the ongoing technical growth and development of the nuclear environmental team;
  • Providing active support to business development activities;
  • Communicating with Clients on a day to day basis;

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge.

  • ·A good knowledge of legislation, policy and standards at EU and UK levels;
  • Track record of delivering environmental projects;
  • Good communication skills with highly developed report writing skills;
  • Experience gained within a consultancy environment and evidence of building strong relations with clients;
  • Experience of working in two or more of the following sectors: nuclear (essential), renewable energy, conventional energy or construction;
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team;
  • Valid UK driving licence.
