Description
Watford then based at Hatfield from Spring 2009. Provision of specialist technical support to the Strategic Planning Water Resources Department with specific responsibility for provision of technical input to borehole and groundwater resource related projects and abstraction licence applications. Will involve project management and responsibilities for some projects. Provision of technical support on both Capital, Operational and R&D projects. Undertaking field surveys and data capture, including water levels, water quality. To understand operation of company equipment and likely observed values to aid in QA assessment of data collected. To be responsible for maintaining data bases on company groundwater sources and groundwater catchment areas. To collect, evaluate and store third party information on geology hydrogeology and related subjects. To organise and undertake pumping tests on sources, interpret and report results. To undertake water resources studies as required. To maintain liaison with Agency on consent procedures, Licence applications and variations. To be responsible for the production of Environmental Impact Assessments in support of Licence applications. To be responsible for Project Management of Capital schemes linked to assessing the impact of abstraction on the surface water systems. To undertake budget progress reporting and variations where required. Liase closely with the various teams within and outside the department. To be responsible for the production of presentations, reports and status notes for the various projects. To be responsible for operation and maintenance of groundwater models held by Company. To be responsible for undertaking pollution incident assessments and investigations. To be responsible for undertaking source pollution risk assessments. MSc in Hydrogeology/Water Resources. Awareness of environmental and water supply issues. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programmes. Understanding of calibration and use of groundwater models. Competence in Corporate computing systems, eg GIS etc. Good social and team working skills. Capable of independent thought and lone working. Good written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to undertake work outdoors. Pro-active in looking for ways to help members of the department. Ability to work in highly confidential environment.
