The successful candidate would be a member of a geo-environmental team of 4 staff. To lead the geotechnical aspects of projects; assist exiting staff with a view to building the geotechnical team under their leadership. They would be expected to interface with clients, seek new opportunities and obtain new work. They will interface with other Hyder offices, obtaining technical assistance where necessary, leading to opportunities locally, nationally and overseas. The appointed person will have a high degree of autonomy to undertake their project work as they see fit with respect to clients’ expectations. They will be expected to visit site, arrange investigations, attend meetings, undertake and direct design, and produce reports accordingly.  Project work will be across several client sectors (eg. Rail, highways, water, land regeneration, commercial property) Managing the delivery of parts of projects to meet time, quality and budgetary targets. Marketing the company’s services through meetings with Clients, bid and proposal preparation, and general promotional activities. BEng, BSc, MEng (Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Engineering Geology) with suitable postgradute degree (MSc, MEnvSci), preferably Chartered Status (CEng MICE, CEng MIMM, MCIWEM, CGeol). Postgraduate experience (preferably in Design Consultancy) including supervising aspects of geotechnical projects. Application of standards and codes Managing specialist sub-consultants Project management (whole projects or sub-projects) Experience in the use & implementation of quality assurance systems Experience in considering commercial matters in the conduct of duties Use of geotechnical analysis software (gInt, Oasys, Slide, Slope/W, WALLAP, PLAXIS)
