Job Title: Power Technical Consultant

Location: North East of England

Our client is a leading global provider of engineering and construction services, technology products and integrated solutions. The business comprises several industries, including Oil & Gas, Refining & Chemicals, Mining & Metals and Power Generation.

Summary:

The Power Technical Consultant is responsible for the activities in a particular technical area or for supporting conceptual front end design or performing study activities. Leads project teams where necessary, serves as the Project Manager for Process Studies or Front End design work.

Qualifications:

Can demonstrate an in-depth understanding of Chemical Engineering. Preferred – a degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering would be advantageous.

Experience Required:

Relevant experience with an engineering company or operating company.

OR

Corporate Membership of Professional Institution and Chartered Engineer with the relevant experience in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

To provide specialist input to all relevant projects, particularly at the concept or front end phase. To liaise with Technical Development Managers and the Business Development Managers to identify clients’ specialist requirements for consultancy support and project or problem definition.

He /she will also act as an external Focal Point for assembling knowledge on the assigned technical area by being aware of developments. This includes attending seminars, symposia and courses as required.

To develop a high profile within the company and outside by participating in the producing technical papers, attending relevant seminars and fostering academic relationships. To train others in his / her area of expertise and identify and develop a successor. To prepare Design References and other materials that promotes application of best practices on projects.

Computer Skills:

Is thoroughly familiar with word processing, spread sheeting, electronic communication and document management and simulation software

Business Activity Support and Responsibilities:

The Technical Consultant will support the Business by doing the following:

  • Technical quality and technical risk evaluation of ITB’s and proposals.
  • Technical input to proposals.
  • Visiting existing and potential clients with a Business Development Manager in order to technically clarify the client’s requirements and to add value to the business effort.
  • Identifies opportunities for selling consultancy services to clients.
