Description
Within a flood risk management team. The post offers excellent opportunities to work on high profile projects through our framework contracts with the Environment Agency, and a variety of work for private sector clients and local authorities. Assignments will cover flood risk mapping studies, flood risk assessments, strategic flood risk assessments and feasibility studies. The post will also provide modelling support to strategies, catchment flood management plans, hydraulic engineering and flood warning studies. A relevant degree in science or engineering is required and post-graduate qualification in hydrology or hydraulics would be an advantage. The ideal candidate would have experience in hydraulic modelling and some knowledge of flood risk management within the UK. Experience in other areas such as hydrology, GIS, flood warning, drainage or river engineering would also be of interest. Candidates should be actively seeking chartership with CIWEM or ICE The role will be technical in nature and will combine hydraulic analysis with more strategic work in developing solutions to flood risk problems. You will be responsible for undertaking and documenting hydraulic modelling and flood risk assessments, and for contributing to a range of water management projects.
