Description
You would be working within a large team of infrastructure design engineers delivering sewerage and water distribution projects for several water companies. Typical duties would include identification of network problems, development and use of network models to simulate hydraulic problems and identify solutions, production of feasibility studies, drainage area plans, detailed designs and contract documents and contract administration. The role of the technician is to support our engineering team in delivery of sewerage and water supply projects based from our Leeds office. The team is responsible for delivering sewerage and water supply projects ranging in value from £10,000 to £6 million for numerous clients in the Midlands and the north of England. Day-to-day tasks would include:- Surveying and fieldwork. Consultation and Liaison with external parties affected by our work. Basic production of drawings using Mapinfo and AUTOCAD. Manipulation and presentation of GIS data. General assistance in document and report production. Basic hydraulic modelling. We provide in-house training combined with an HND in Civil Engineering (day release attendance at Leeds Metropolitan University). We have found that this offers a professional development route to either develop long term as a Civil Engineering Technician or, on completion of the HND, to stay-on at Leeds Uni and complete a Civil Engineering degree. Successful completion of the degree course would allow the candidate to transfer across on to our engineering development stream Minimum of 80 UCAS points required for entry onto the HND Civil Engineering Course at Leeds Met University. Strong mathematical ability (minimum grade B at A level). Ideally qualified to A level standard in physics or applied maths. Interest in engineering and problem solving. Strong communication skills, desire to work in teams. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Interest in working with computers. None specifically required but any relevant work experience would be an advantage. Please contact Melissa Self on 020 7531 5757 or melissa.self@anglo.com to discuss further.
