Description
The client provides asset maintenance and upgrade services across the Water, Wastewater, Gas, Electricity, Civil Engineering and Multi Utility industries. They operate term and project based contracts for the majority of the UK's major utilities organisations. They have a portfolio of blue chip clients nationwide and overseas with a turnover of circa £550 million per annum and employ over 5200 personnel and operate from a number of sites across the UK.
Due to company restructure a requirement has arisen for a General Manager - Health & Safety, who will ensure all aspects of the client's Health & Safety systems and processes are embedded within operational activities and remain efficient and effective at all times. This role will be based out of the Sheffield Head Office for 2-3 days per week and involve travel throughout the UK visiting other company sites and has the potential requirement of Global travel.
You will be responsible for delivering the H&S management system and communicating the information to senior managers, directors and clients as appropriate.
You will also be responsible for the following: Measure and monitor HSE performance. Ensure changes in legislation are correctly implemented. Lead and develop the HSE Project Team and Senior HSE Advisors. Attend regular management meetings across the business and client reviews. Identify problems and explore solutions that raise the effectiveness of HSE application and compliance.
You will interact with Directors and senior managers across the business and employees in all regions and will have the authority to stop or pause work to prevent the occurrence of injury to persons working on a worksite.
The candidate will be of graduate calibre in a technical or business subject or equivalent, NEBOSH Diploma 2 and Chartered or Fellow Member of IOSH would be an advantage, as would experience in a management role within a Utilities or Construction industry.
