According to The World Offshore Drilling Spend Forecast, from analysts Douglas-Westwood, 2010 is expected to be a good year for global drilling.

This is good news for those looking for energy jobs in the large numbers of small and medium-sized enterprises providing related services to the oil and gas industry, the Aberdeen Press and Journal reports.

Louise Wood, managing director of Prodrill, told the news provider: "It may seem a little paradoxical to link deterioration in oil and gas trading conditions with a growing number of global opportunities for the industry.

"Individual skills are still required to undertake these projects in future quarters."

Last month, BP and Royal Dutch Shell both boasted a sharp rise in their share prices on the back of rising demand for gas and oil across the world.ADNFCR-2017-ID-19547854-ADNFCR
