The new year should signal the beginning of a new 'green' economy where hundreds of thousands of new energy jobs will be created, according to Nick Clegg.

Speaking in his new year address, the leader of the Liberal Democrats said that 2010 should be a year of change.
"Soon we will be publishing new ideas to turn our economy away from its over dependence on the City of London to a new, green economy," he said.
Mr Clegg added that hundreds of thousands of new jobs would be created as the UK rebuilds its energy infrastructure.
A report in the Times earlier this month estimated that the forthcoming boiler scrappage scheme could benefit as many as 120,000 boiler engineers.
This is good news for those with energy jobs, many of whom have been struggling because of a decline in orders stemming from the slowdown in the property market.
