EDF Energy looks certain to create new energy jobs thanks to plans to invest in new nuclear power stations.
The company recently held a supply chain event for contractors in London, which explained the role that British businesses can play in helping to deliver its investment.
EDF wants to construct four new European Pressurised Reactors (EPR) in Britain, initiatives that would create "considerable commercial opportunities" in addition to new energy jobs.
Speaking at the event, Vincent de Rivaz, EDF Energy's chief executive, said that it was "no longer about should we build new nuclear plants in the UK, or even when. It is about how."
"The huge investment we will now make to deliver new nuclear is good news for UK workers because it will create significant employment opportunities over the coming years," he commented.
Mr de Rivaz added that the company was intending to "maximise the opportunities for British companies".
As of 2007, there were two EPR reactors under construction in Europe - one in France and one in Finland.
